While there are a vast number of ways in which you can arrive at your wedding, from the traditional walking (yes, the oldest and still common in warmer climates in Europe) to a luxury Jaguaror hiring a limo or classic car, many people prefer to stand out from the crowd with a less than ordinary arrival at their wedding.  Sometimes individuals want to hire rather unique transport to make a fantastic impression on their guests and make your special day a truly memorable occasion.  Here is a small selection of unusual wedding transport solutions.

Going Against the Flow

The biggest craze sweeping the UK amongst brides seems to be the desire to arrive in a tractor.  Last year the case of Rosemary Smith and James MaCraken in Dorset featured a modern John Deere tractor, commandeered as more of an emergency measure during heavy flooding.  Here comes the bride – you’re not kidding.  In the soon to be Mrs MaCraken’s case however, the bride hadn’t had time to make necessary adjustments to her dress and footwear, which may have made her descent into the small river outside the church (technically a road) somewhat difficult.  Nevertheless, the whole day seemed to go off for a splash and although the bride’s mother couldn’t make it to the ceremony thanks to the flooding, she did somehow make it to the reception where all the G&T had also escaped the floodwaters.

Let me Just Get a Shot of You on the Trailer

While it may seem like a pragmatic solution to actually getting to the church during flooding, many brides have chosen the agricultural alternative to Jaguar or other luxury cars.  In these cases the choice is a lot more to do with stamping their personality on the big day (and perhaps fitting in a little light ploughing on the way) which is no bad thing.  In 2010 Anna Woodall chose a vintage Fordston Super Major.  The single-seated tractor had been lovingly restored by the bride and her father who shared a long term passion for restoring agricultural machinery.  Anna was actually towed behind the tractor on a trailer (echoes of Gavin and Stacey) complete with a mini-marquee and some bales of straw.  Unlike his bride to be the groom showed a little less originality and arrived at the church in a Bentley.

That Sinking Feeling

Despite seeming an unlikely form of wedding day transport tractors, new and old, seem to be rising in popularity amongst farming families along with vintage enthusiasts like Anna and her Dad.  However, highly personalised forms of transport are also on the increase.  From the Harley Davison option which is common amongst bikers, to balloons, helicopters (the ultimate luxury transport) and even, on one occasion featured in the BBC’s “Don’t tell the Bride” a Whelking trawler.  In that case the bride was terrified of deep water and boats but thankfully while the transport didn’t go down to well with the bride, it didn’t actually go down.

Hair, Make-up, Bouquet and Wellies

While researching this post I came across a delightfully archaic piece of advice to women planning their weddings.  The article suggested that when it came to vehicles you’d probably need to consult with your husband-to-be.  After all, they know about cars don’t they?  Whoever wrote the piece obviously hadn’t met (and probably shouldn’t for their own safety) the likes of Anna Woodall.  When it comes to wedding transport the examples above show that the best choice is your choice (although consultation with future spouse is advisable on all matters).  However, if like the women above, you choose the less standard issue type of vehicle be sure to make the necessary adjustments and precautions with your dress and footwear; tractor brides seem to find the ready availability of a colourful pair of wellies an essential accessory, while safety gear is likely to be a requirement for biker brides.  However, if in doubt, sticking to the rather simple Jaguarroute as it will offer you ultimately luxury and style for a great price.

Șic și clasic - "Chic & Classic" luxury fine arts, entirely handcrafted, original design

Here in Romania, when a person is young and full of life and energy, we say that he or she is in the “flower of life”.

This rose, is a brooch, a very hight quality of handmade work. In fashion, nothing can be com pared with a piece of handmade work. Actualy when you are wearing something made by hand, you are wearing a piece from whom made it. Is curious how objects can be empowered with energy. This is the reason that fine arts are called luxury.
